The Ant (Al-Naml)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Ta Sin! These are the verses of the Quran and the Book that makes (things) clear 1 a guidance and a glad tiding to the believers 2 who are steadfast in prayer, who pay the religious tax, and who have strong faith in the life hereafter. 3 We make their deeds attractive to those who do not believe in the Hereafter, so that they may wander in perplexity. 4 Such are they for whom a grievous Penalty is (waiting); and in the Hereafter theirs will be the greatest loss. 5 As to thee, the Qur'an is bestowed upon thee from the presence of one who is wise and all-knowing. 6 (Remember) when Moses said unto his household: Lo! I spy afar off a fire; I will bring you tidings thence, or bring to you a borrowed flame that ye may warm yourselves. 7 When he came up to it, a voice called out, "Blessed be whoever is near this fire, and whoever is around it! Glory be to God, Lord of the Universe! 8 "O Musa (Moses)! Verily! It is I, Allah, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. 9 Throw down your staff." When Moses saw his staff on the ground moving like a living creature, he stepped back and did not come forward again. The Lord said,"Moses, do not be afraid. Messengers do not become afraid in My presence". 10 save him who has done evil, then; after evil, has changed into good; All-forgiving am I, All-compassionate. 11 Now put your hand into your bosom, and it will come forth shining without any blemish. (These are two of the) nine Signs to be carried to Pharaoh and his people. They are surely a wicked people." 12 But when Our Clear Signs came to them, they said: "This is plain magic." 13 And they denied them, though their souls acknowledged them, for spite and arrogance. Then see the nature of the consequence for the wrong-doers! 14
