The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif, Lam, Meem. 1 The Romans have been defeated in a nearby land and after this defeat, 2 In the nearer land (Syria, Iraq, Jordan, and Palestine), and they, after their defeat, will be victorious. 3 in a few years. To God belongs the Command before and after, and on that day the believers shall rejoice 4 With the help of Allah. He helps whom He will, and He is exalted in might, most merciful. 5 This is Allah's promise; and Allah faileth not His promise. Yet most men know not. 6 They know an outward part of this life, but of the Everlasting Life they are inattentive. 7 Do they not contemplate within themselves? Allah has not created the heavens and the earth and what is between them except in truth and for a specified term. And indeed, many of the people, in [the matter of] the meeting with their Lord, are disbelievers. 8 Have they not travelled on the earth and seen how the others before them had met their end? They were far more powerful than them, furrowed the earth and colonised it far more than they; and their apostles came to them with visible signs. It was surely not for God to wrong them, they wronged themselves. 9 Then the end of those who committed evil was evil, for they belied the signs of God, and they derided them. 10
