۞ Muster those who did evil, their wives, and that they were serving, 22 Beside Allah, and lead them on to the path of the Flaming Fire. 23 And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned." 24 They will be asked, "Why do you not help each other?" 25 But they, that Day, are in surrender. 26 And they will turn to one another and question one another. 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 Others will respond, "It was you who did not want to have any faith. 29 Moreover, we had no power at all over you: nay, you were people filled with overweening arrogance! 30 "So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins). 31 We led you astray as we were ourselves astray." 32 So this day they all are partners in the punishment. 33 Thus do We treat the culprits. 34 Whenever it was said to them: “There is no true deity apart from Allah,” they waxed proud 35 And they said: are we going to abandon our gods on account of a poet distracted? 36 Nay, but he brought the Truth, and he confirmed those sent (before him). 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 “And you will not be compensated except for your deeds.” 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 [in the hereafter,] theirs shall be a sustenance which they will recognize 41 Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured 42 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise), 43 On thrones facing one another. 44 A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, 45 white and delicious to those who drink it, 46 Neither dulling the senses nor intoxicating, 47 And with them maidens of modest look and large lustrous eyes, 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 Then one turned to the other in an enquiry. 50 A speaker of them saith: Lo! I had a comrade 51 who would say, "Are you a confirmer? 52 "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 Then he will look and see him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 Are we then not to die 58 Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished? 59 This is certainly the greatest triumph 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is this not a better reward than the tree of Zaqqum 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 The fruit thereof is as though the hoods of the serpents. 65 (The people of Hell) will surely eat of it, filling their bellies with it. 66 Washing it down with boiling water. 67 And thereafter verily their return is unto the Flaming Fire. 68 They indeed found their fathers astray, 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And indeed before them, most of the former people went astray. 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 Look, then how was the end of those who had been warned, 73 Save the bondmen of Allah sincere. 74
