۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 Other than Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire 23 "But stop them, for they must be asked: 24 What is the matter with you that you do not help each other? 25 In fact this day they have all surrendered. 26 And they will turn to one another, and question one another. 27 They said, “It is you who used to come to us from our right, in order to sway.” 28 They will say: “Nay, you yourselves were not the ones who would believe. 29 Moreover, we had no power at all over you: nay, you were people filled with overweening arrogance! 30 "So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins). 31 "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." 32 So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment. 33 Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals. 34 for, behold, whenever they were told, "There is no deity save God," they would glory in their arrogance 35 And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?" 36 Nay! he (Muhammad SAW) has come with the truth (i.e. Allah's Religion - Islamic Monotheism and this Quran) and he confirms the Messengers (before him who brought Allah's religion - Islamic Monotheism). 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 and be rewarded only according to your deeds." 39 Not so, however, God's true servants: 40 Whose provision is predetermined -- 41 Fruits! And they shall be honoured. 42 In Gardens of Delight. 43 On thrones, facing each other. 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), 46 but not harmful or intoxicating. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 (Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich). 49 Then they will turn to one another, mutually questioning. 50 A speaker from among them shall say: Surely I had a comrade of mine, 51 Who said: art thou of those who confess to the doctrine of Resurrection: 52 Shall we be recompensed for our deeds after we die and become bones and dust? 53 Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" 54 He will look down and see him in hell. 55 'By Allah' he will say, 'you almost destroyed me! 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)." 57 What, do we then not die 58 Except our previous death? And we shall not be chastised? 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 for which one must strive hard. 61 Is that better by way of hospitality or the Zaqqum tree, 62 Verily We! We have made it a temptation for the wrong-doers. 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 its spathes are as the heads of Satans, 65 Then most surely they shall eat of it and fill (their) bellies with it. 66 Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water. 67 Then their return will be to the same blazing Hell. 68 for, behold, they found their forebears on a wrong way, 69 yet they run in their footsteps, 70 And assuredly many of the ancients went astray before them, 71 But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;- 72 Look, then how was the end of those who had been warned, 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
