۞ “Gather all the unjust persons and their spouses, and all that they used to worship!” 22 Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell, 23 and halt them [there]!" [And then,] behold, they shall be asked, 24 "How is it that [now] you cannot succour one another?" 25 Nay, but on that Day they would willingly surrender [to God]; 26 And they will approach one another blaming each other. 27 saying: 'You used to come to us from the right hand' 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 we had no authority over you; no, you were an insolent people. 30 So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment]. 31 So then, [if it be true that] we have caused you to err grievously - behold, we ourselves had been lost in grievous error!" 32 So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment. 33 This is how We deal with the guilty. 34 For when it was said to them: 'There is no god except Allah' they were always proud 35 And to say: What! shall we indeed give up our gods for the sake of a mad poet? 36 Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers. 37 “You surely have to taste the painful punishment.” 38 but you shall not be recompensed except for what you were doing. 39 Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 40 For them awaits a known provision, 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise), 43 sitting face to face upon couches, 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 White, delicious for the drinkers. 46 No headiness there shall be therein, nor shall they be therewith inebriated. 47 Theirs shall be wide-eyed maidens with bashful, restrained glances, 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 Then they will turn to one another, mutually questioning. 50 one of them will say, "I had a friend, 51 'Do you believe in the Day of Judgment? 52 "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 53 And he will reply: 'Are you looking down (into Hell)' 54 He looked down and saw (his friend) in the midst of Hell. 55 He said, “By Allah, you had nearly ruined me!” 56 And but for the favour of my lord, I should have been of those brought forward. 57 He will ask his companion, "Did you not say that there would only be one death 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 Verily this! that is the supreme achievement. 60 For the like of this, then, let them labour, those who labour [in God's way]! 61 Is that better by way of hospitality or the Zaqqum tree, 62 We have made this (tree) a trial for the evildoers. 63 It is a tree that grows in the nethermost part of Hell. 64 Its fruit like the heads of demons. 65 So indeed they will eat from it, and fill their bellies with it. 66 then in addition to it they shall have a draught of boiling water to drink; 67 Then their return will be to the same blazing Hell. 68 They indeed found their fathers astray, 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- 71 And We had already sent among them warners. 72 Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned, 73 except the sincere worshipers of Allah. 74
