۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 They will be asked, "Why do you not help each other?" 25 Nay, but on that Day they would willingly surrender [to God]; 26 And some of them will confront the others, 27 Saying: "It were you who imposed yourselves upon us." 28 [To which] the others will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were bereft of all faith! 29 And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people. 30 and so we became deserving of the Word of our Lord that we shall be made to suffer chastisement. 31 We mislead you and we ourselves had also gone astray." 32 So all of them on that day are sharers in the chastisement. 33 Even so We do with the sinners; 34 Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant 35 And said: "Should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?" 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 “You surely have to taste the painful punishment.” 38 although you shall not be requited for aught but what you were wont to do. 39 But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah,- 40 For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise). 41 Fruits. And they will be honoured 42 in gardens of bliss, 43 (Sitting) on couches, face to face, 44 A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, 45 White, a pleasure unto the drinkers. 46 Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. 47 They will have with them loving wives with big black and white eyes 48 like closely guarded pearls. 49 Then they will advance unto each other, mutually questioning. 50 One of them will say: 'I had a companion 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book? 53 And he will reply: 'Are you looking down (into Hell)' 54 So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He will say to his friend in hell, "By God, you almost destroyed me. 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)." 57 (Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die 58 except for our first death, and are we not chastised? 59 Most surely this is the mighty achievement. 60 For such a reward should the workers perform. 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 Verily We! We have made it a temptation for the wrong-doers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hellfire: 64 its spathes are like the heads of satans 65 Then most surely they shall eat of it and fill (their) bellies with it. 66 Then after it, indeed for them is the drink of boiling hot water. 67 Then most surely their return shall be to hell. 68 These are the ones who found their fathers steeped in error, 69 so they are rushing to follow in their footsteps. 70 And verily most of the men of old went astray before them, 71 And verily We sent among them warners. 72 and behold what happened in the end to those that had been warned [to no avail]! 73 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 74
