Noah cried to Us, and how excellent was Our response! 75 We saved him and his family from the great affliction, 76 And, his progeny, them We made the survivors (i.e. Shem, Ham and Japheth). 77 and We established for him a good name among posterity. 78 Peace on Noah among all men. 79 Even so We recompense the good-doers; 80 he was one of Our believing worshipers. 81 Then the rest we overwhelmed in the Flood. 82 ۞ And indeed, among his kind was Abraham, 83 Recall what time he came unto his Lord with a heart whole. 84 When he said to his father and his people: "What is this you worship? 85 “What! You desire, through fabrication, Gods other than Allah?” 86 What do you think of the Lord of the whole Universe?” 87 He looked up at the stars. 88 And he said: verily I am about to be sick. 89 and at that they turned their backs on him and went away. 90 He then sneaked upon their deities and said, “Do you not eat?” 91 “What is the matter with you, that you do not say anything?” 92 Then he attacked them, striking with his right hand. 93 Thereupon the people came running to him. 94 He said: worship ye that which ye carve. 95 “Whereas Allah has created you and your actions?” 96 They said, “Construct a building (furnace) for him, and then cast him in the blazing fire!” 97 So they tried to execute their evil scheme upon him – We therefore degraded them. (Allah saved him, by commanding the fire to turn cool). 98 Abraham said: “I am going to my Lord; He will guide me. 99 Lord, grant me a righteous son." 100 So We gave him the good news of a boy ready to suffer and forbear. 101 And when he became capable of working with him, Ibrahim said, “O my son, I dreamt that I am sacrificing you – therefore now consider what is your opinion”; he said, “O my father! Do what you are commanded! Allah willing, you will soon find me patiently enduring!” 102 When both surrendered (to Allah's command) and Abraham flung the son down on his forehead, 103 And We called out to him, “O Ibrahim!” 104 You have fulfilled the dream (vision)!" Verily! Thus do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 105 for, behold, all this was indeed a trial, clear in itself. 106 And We ransomed him with a mighty sacrifice, 107 And left (his hallowed memory) for posterity. 108 'Peace be upon Abraham!' 109 Even so We recompense the good-doers; 110 Lo! he is one of Our believing slaves. 111 So We gave him the good news of Isaac, apostle, who is among the righteous. 112 We had blessed him and Isaac. Some of their offspring were righteous and others were openly unjust to themselves. 113
