Jonah too was one of the messengers. 139 He ran away to the laden ship, 140 and cast lots, and he was among the losers (of the lots that were cast). 141 And a fish swallowed him, and he was reproaching himself. 142 And had he not been of those who hallow Him, 143 He would have stayed in its belly till the day the dead are raised. 144 ۞ We then put him ashore on a plain, and he was sick. 145 And We caused to grow over him a tree, a gourd. 146 Then We sent him unto a hundred thousand, or more, 147 and they believed, and We gave them enjoyment for awhile. 148 Now ask them if their Lord has daughters, and they sons? 149 Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 It is only because of their false invention that they say, 151 "God has begotten children." They are truly liars. 152 (And again of their falsehood): He hath preferred daughters to sons. 153 What is amiss with you and your judgment? 154 Do you not understand? 155 Or have you a clear authority? 156 Bring your Book, if what you say is true! 157 And they assert a relationship between Him and the jinn; and certainly the jinn do know that they shall surely be brought up; 158 Glory be to Allah (for freedom) from what they describe; 159 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 160 So, verily you (pagans) and those whom you worship (idols). 161 you shall tempt none against Him 162 except for he who shall roast in Hell. 163 (Those ranged in ranks say): "Not one of us but has a place appointed; 164 We stand in ranks (for prayer) 165 and we are of those who glorify Allah.” 166 Even though they (unbelievers) say, 167 "If only we had had before us a Message from those of old, 168 We would have been the chosen creatures of God." 169 But (now that the Quran has come) they disbelieve therein (i.e. in the Quran and in Prophet Muhammad SAW, and all that which he brought, the Divine Revelation), so they will come to know! 170 And Our word has already preceded for Our servants, the messengers, 171 assuredly they shall be helped, 172 And that Our host, they verily would be the victors. 173 Therefore turn away from them for some time. 174 And (then) see them, so they too shall see. 175 Would they hasten on Our doom? 176 When it descends on their courtyards, how terrible that morning will be for those who were warned! 177 So turn thou from them for a while, 178 And watch (how they fare) and they soon shall see (how thou farest)! 179 Purity is to your Lord, the Lord of Honour, from all what they say. 180 Peace be upon the Messengers 181 And all praise is to Allah, the Lord Of The Creation. 182
