The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 Who will be honoured 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruits numberless, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virginal, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
