Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HaMeem. 1 A revelation from the Beneficent, the Merciful Allah: 2 A Book whose signs have been distinguished as an Arabic Koran for a people having knowledge, 3 Announcing happy news and warnings. And yet most of them are averse and do not listen, 4 And they say: Our hearts are under coverings from that to which you call us, and there is a heaviness in our ears, and a veil hangs between us and you, so work, we too are working. 5 Say, O [Muhammad], "I am only a man like you to whom it has been revealed that your god is but one God; so take a straight course to Him and seek His forgiveness." And woe to those who associate others with Allah - 6 Who give not the poor-rate; and they! in the Hereafter, they are disbelievers. 7 "The ones who believe and perform good deeds shall have a reward which will never be withheld from them." 8
