Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By (the winds) that scatter dust. 1 and those that carry the burden [of heavy clouds,] 2 And the ships that glide with ease. 3 and distributing the command of God at His behest! 4 What you are promised is certainly true: 5 And verily Judgment and Justice must indeed come to pass. 6 By the heaven full of paths, 7 surely you are deeply at variance [as to what to believe] -- 8 He is turned away from it who would be turned away. 9 Slain be those who mould from their imaginations. 10 Those who (flounder) heedless in a flood of confusion: 11 They ask: When is the Day of Judgment? 12 On that Day they shall be tried at the Fire, 13 Taste your burning: this is that which ye sought to be hastened. 14 The pious ones will live amidst gardens and springs, 15 taking whatsoever their Lord has given them; they were good-doers before that. 16 they used to sleep but little by night, 17 And in the hour of early dawn, they (were found) praying for Forgiveness; 18 And in their properties there was the right of the beggar, and the Mahrum (the poor who does not ask the others). 19 And in the earth are signs for those who are certain. 20 just as [there are signs thereof] within your own selves: can you not, then, see? 21 And in the heaven is your provision and whatever you are promised. 22 By the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this is certainly true even as you speak. 23
