(O Prophet), did the story of Abraham's honoured guests reach you? 24 They entered to him and said: 'Peace' And he replied: 'Peace, you are people unknown to me' 25 Then he turned away privately unto his household, and brought a calf fatted. 26 and laid it before them, saying: “Will you not eat?” 27 [And when he saw that the guests would not eat,] he became apprehensive of them; [but] they said, "Fear not" - and gave him the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son who would be endowed with deep knowledge. 28 Then came forward his wife, clamouring, and she smote her face, and said, 'An old woman, barren!' 29 "Such is the will of your Lord," they replied. "He is the Wise, the All Knowing." 30 ۞ He said: what then is your errand! O ye sent ones! 31 They said, “We have been sent towards a guilty nation.” 32 That we may send upon them stones of clay, 33 They are transgressors in the presence of your Lord". 34 Then we brought forth such believers as were there. 35 But did not find more than a single family of believers. 36 And We left there a Sign for such as fear the Grievous Penalty. 37 In Moses, too, (there were signs). We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority, 38 In response, he turned away along with his army and said, “He is a magician or a madman.” 39 So We took him and his hosts, and dumped them into the sea, while he was to be blamed. 40 There is also evidence of the Truth in the story of Ad whom We struck with a violent wind 41 which turned everything it approached into dust. 42 And in Thamud, when it was said to them, "Enjoy yourselves for a time." 43 In response they rebelled against their Lord’s command, so the thunderbolt seized them whilst they were watching. 44 So they were not able to stand, nor could they help themselves. 45 And the people of Noah before; surely they were an ungodly people. 46
