The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the mount. 1 By the book inscribed. 2 in an exposed parchment 3 By the House Frequented. 4 by the elevated canopy; 5 And the swollen sea 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 [It will come to pass] on the Day when the skies will be convulsed in [a great] convulsion, 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 “This is the fire, which you used to deny!” 14 Then is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire. 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ And their boy servants shall go around them, as if they were pearls, safely hidden. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 26 But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. 27 Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
