Therefore continue to remind, for by the grace of your Lord, you are not a soothsayer, or a madman. 29 Do they say: "He is a poet for whom we expect an adverse turn of fortune?" 30 Say thou: "Await ye!- I too will wait along with you!" 31 Nay! do their understandings bid them this? Or are they an inordinate people? 32 What! They say, “He has invented the Qur'an”? Rather they do not have faith. 33 Let them then produce a recital like unto it,- If (it be) they speak the truth! 34 Or were they created out of nothing? Or are they the creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay! they have no certainty. 36 Or are thy Lord's treasuries in their keeping? Or are they the registrars? 37 Do they have a ladder (by which they can climb up to the heavens) and listen (to the angels) and come back to the rest of the people with clear authority? 38 Has (God) daughters and they sons? 39 Or askest thou a hire from them so that they are with debt laden? 40 Or is the Unseen in their keeping, and so they are writing it down? 41 Or seek they to ensnare (the messenger)? But those who disbelieve, they are the ensnared! 42 Or do they have a God besides Allah? Purity is to Allah from their ascribing of partners to Him. 43 If they should see a part of the heavens falling down, they would say, "A mass of clouds," 44 So leave them alone till they meet their Day, in which they will sink into a fainting (with horror). 45 when their stratagem shall be of no avail to them, nor shall they be succoured. 46 Surely a chastisement awaits the wrong-doers even before the coming of that Day; but most of them do not know. 47 So wait patiently (O Muhammad) for thy Lord's decree, for surely thou art in Our sight; and hymn the praise of thy Lord when thou uprisest, 48 And in the night-time also hymn His praise, and at the setting of the stars. 49
