The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Star when it plunges, 1 Your comrade erreth not, nor is deceived; 2 Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 Which one of mighty powers hath taught him, 5 Dhu Mirrah (free from any defect in body and mind), Fastawa [then he (Jibrael - Gabriel) rose and became stable]. [Tafsir At-Tabari]. 6 being on the higher horizon. 7 then came down close 8 Until a space of two bow (arcs) or even less remained, 9 and revealed to God's servant what he revealed. 10 The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw. 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he seeth? 12 And assuredly he saw him at another descent. 13 by the Lote-Tree of the Boundary 14 nigh which is the Garden of the Refuge, 15 when the lote tree was covered in mystic splendour. 16 The eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit. 17 Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). 18 Have you really considered al-Lat and al-"Uzza, 19 and the third one, Manat? -- 20 Shall you have the male issues, and He the female issues? 21 That is indeed an unfair division! 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath sent down no authority. They follow but their fancy, and that which pleaseth their souls; whereas assuredly there hath come unto them from their Lord the guidance. 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 But it is to Allah that the End and the Beginning (of all things) belong. 25
