The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the star when it setteth. 1 your companion is neither astray, neither errs, 2 Nor does he speak out of desire. 3 It is but a divine revelation, which is revealed to him. 4 He has been taught by the Extremely Powerful. 5 one endowed with immense wisdom. He came forth and stood poised, 6 And reached the highest pinnacle. 7 Then he drew near, then he bowed 8 So he was the measure of two bows or closer still. 9 And He revealed unto His slave that which He revealed. 10 The heart lied not in that which he saw. 11 what, will you dispute with him what he sees? 12 He saw Him indeed another time 13 by the lote-tree at the farthest boundary, 14 Close to which is the Everlasting Paradise. 15 when the lote tree was covered in mystic splendour. 16 The eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit. 17 Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you considered Lat and 'Uzza, 19 And subsequently the third, the Manat? 20 Shall you have the male issues, and He the female issues? 21 That is indeed an unjust division. 22 They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. 23 Shall man have whatsoever he wisheth for! 24 To God belong the End and the Beginning. 25
