The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the setting star, 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he misguided, 2 And he speaketh not of his own desire. 3 It is only an Inspiration that is inspired. 4 Taught to him by one intense in strength - 5 One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form 6 being on the higher horizon, 7 Then he approached and came closer, 8 he was but two bows' length or even nearer, 9 Then he revealed to Allah's servant whatever he had to reveal. 10 The heart did not lie [about] what it saw. 11 Will you dispute with him what he saw? 12 And certainly he saw him in another descent, 13 Near the lote-tree of the last boundary. 14 near which is the Garden of Abode. 15 When that which covers covered the lote-tree; 16 His eye did not waver, nor did it stray, 17 Indeed, he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you considered Lat and 'Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 That indeed is a division unfair! 22 these are nothing but names which you yourselves have devised, you and your forefathers. God has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own selves desire, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord! 23 Or shall man have what he coveteth? 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25
