The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the star when it sets: 1 Your comrade erreth not, nor is deceived; 2 Nor doth he speak of (his own) desire. 3 It is naught but revelation that is revealed, 4 The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, 5 very strong; he stood poised, 6 And reached the highest pinnacle. 7 then he drew near, and became close 8 until he was two bow-lengths away or even closer 9 And He revealed to His servant what He revealed. 10 His heart did not falsify what he perceived. 11 So will you dispute with him over what he saw? 12 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) during his other ascent 13 Near Sidrat-ul-Muntaha [lote-tree of the utmost boundary (beyond which none can pass)], 14 Near it is the Paradise of Abode. 15 When that which shroudeth did enshroud the lote-tree, 16 The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit]. 17 Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). 18 Have you considered El-Lat and El-'Uzza 19 and, another, the third manat? 20 Do sons belong to you and daughters to God? 21 that, lo and behold, is an unfair division! 22 They are but names, named by you and your fathers. Allah has not sent down any authority for them. They follow conjecture and their soul's desire, eventhough the guidance of their Lord has come to them. 23 Is the human to have whatever he fancies? 24 Allah's is the last and the first. 25
