Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 Does he have any knowledge of the world beyond the ken of sense-perception, and therefore, clearly sees (the Truth)? 35 Has he not been informed of what is in the Scrolls of Moses, 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his engagements?- 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad). 39 That his endeavours will be judged, 40 Then shall he be rewarded for it with the fullest reward- 41 And that to your Lord is the finality 42 And that He it is Who makes (men) laugh and makes (them) weep; 43 And that it is He (Allah) Who causes death and gives life; 44 And that He created pairs, the male and the female 45 From seed when it is emitted. 46 and that it is for Him to grant the second life, 47 And that it is He (Allah) Who gives much or a little (or gives wealth and contentment), 48 and that He is the Lord of (the star) Sirius, 49 that it was He that destroyed ancient Aad 50 And (the tribe of) Thamud He spared not; 51 and before them the nation of Noah, they exceeded in evil and were insolent. 52 And Al-Mu'tafikah He destroyed 53 So that they were covered over by what they were covered over. 54 So which then of your Lord's favors do you dispute? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 that [Last Hour] which is so near draws ever nearer, 57 Of it, [from those] besides Allah, there is no remover. 58 Do you then find these tidings strange? 59 And laugh and not weep, 60 Will you occupy yourselves simply in merriment? 61 Bow instead in adoration before God and worship Him. ۩ 62
