(O Prophet), did you see him who turned away (from the Path of Allah), 33 And gives a little and (then) withholds. 34 Is with him knowledge of the unseen so that he seeth? 35 Has not he been informed of the contents of the Book of Moses 36 And Abraham who paid his debt: 37 “That no bearer of a burden shall bear the burden of another, 38 And that man will not obtain anything except what he strove for? 39 And that his deeds will be seen, 40 and that he shall then be fully recompensed, 41 that all things in the end shall return to God; 42 And that it is He Who made (you) laugh and made (you) cry? 43 And He who ordains death and life; 44 And that He created pairs, the male and the female 45 from an ejaculated drop (of sperm), 46 And that [incumbent] upon Him is the next creation 47 And that it is He Who enricheth and preserveth property. 48 And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship); 49 that it was He that destroyed ancient Aad 50 And (the tribe of) Thamud He spared not; 51 Like the people of Noah before them, who were surely oppressors and rebellious; 52 And the overthrown cities did He overthrow, 53 So they were covered with whatever covered them? 54 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 55 This is a warner, of the warners of old. 56 that [Last Hour] which is so near draws ever nearer, 57 None except Allah can avert it. 58 So are you surprised at this fact? 59 And you laugh at it and weep not, 60 while you make merry? 61 Prostrate yourselves before God, and worship Him alone! ۩ 62
