The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
The Hour hath drawn nigh, and the moon hath been rent in sunder. 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 They have rejected it and have followed their own desires, but all matters will be settled (by God). 3 Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, 4 but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. 5 So turn away from them, (O Prophet). On the Day when a caller shall call them to a thing most terrible, 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 running (with their necks extended) to the Caller. The unbelievers will say: 'This is indeed a harsh Day' 8 ۞ The people of Noah, who lived before them, had also rejected (Our guidance). They rejected Our servant and said, "He is an insane person so let us drive him away". 9 Thereupon he called out to his Sustainer, "Verily, I am defeated; come Thou, then, to my succour!" 10 Then We opened the portals of heaven with water poured out. 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 She floats under our eyes (and care): a recompense to one who had been rejected (with scorn)! 14 And We left it as a sign – so is there one who would ponder? 15 But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning? 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 Surely We sent on them a tornado in a day of bitter ill-luck 19 Smashing down men as if they were uprooted trunks of date palms. 20 Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 21 But We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 22
