The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
THE HOUR HAS come and split is the moon. 1 And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic." 2 And they denied and followed their own desires, whereas each matter has been decided! 3 They have certainly received the kind of news in which there is a lesson and strong words of wisdom, 4 but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. 5 Therefore turn away from them; on the day when the announcer will call towards a severe unknown matter – 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 They shall be hurrying forth towards the caller, and the unbelievers (who had once denied this Day), will say: “This is a woeful Day.” 8 ۞ The people of Noah, who lived before them, had also rejected (Our guidance). They rejected Our servant and said, "He is an insane person so let us drive him away". 9 so he cried out to his Lord, saying, "I am overcome, so help me!" 10 Then We opened the gates of heaven unto water torrential, 11 And caused the earth to gush forth springs, so that the waters met for a predestined purpose. 12 but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 16 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 We sent a tumultuous wind against them on a day of unremitting misfortune, 19 Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms. 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
