The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 They also gave the lie to (the splitting asunder of the moon) and only followed their desires. Yet everything is destined to reach an end. 3 Surely there came to them narratives (of the ancient nations) that should suffice to deter (them from transgression), 4 Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail; 5 So (O Muhammad SAW) withdraw from them. The Day that the caller will call (them) to a terrible thing. 6 with down-cast eyes they shall go forth from their graves, as though they were scattered locusts. 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 So he cried unto his Lord, saying: I am vanquished, so give help. 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. 12 And We carried Nooh upon a ship of wooden planks and nails. 13 She floats under our eyes (and care): a recompense to one who had been rejected (with scorn)! 14 We made (the story of Noah) as evidence of the Truth. However, is there anyone who would take heed? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 17 The people of `Ad rejected Our guidance. How terrible was My torment and the result (of their disregard) of My warning. 18 Verily We! We sent against them a raging wind on a day of calamity continuous. 19 Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms. 20 Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22
