The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 They deny the truth and follow their own whims, every matter has its appointed time, 3 And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter, 4 but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. 5 turn thou away from them. On the Day when the Summoning Voice will summon [man] unto something that the mind cannot conceive, 6 Their eyes cast down, going forth from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult. 8 ۞ Before them Noah's people also gave the lie (to his Message). They rejected Our servant as a liar, saying: “He is a madman”; and he was rebuffed. 9 Thereupon he called out to his Sustainer, "Verily, I am defeated; come Thou, then, to my succour!" 10 And so We caused the gates of heaven to open with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined. 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And We left it as a sign – so is there one who would ponder? 15 So how dreadful have been My torment and My warning! 16 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 17 And there belied the A'ad; so how dreadful have been My torment and warning! 18 For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 How terrible was Our torment and the result of (their disregard) of Our warning. 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22
