The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 And they denied and followed their own desires, whereas each matter has been decided! 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 far-reaching wisdom [was held out to them]: but [since] all warnings have been of no avail, 5 So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding, 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 running with outstretched necks to the Caller. The unbelievers shall say, 'This is a hard day!' 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 He therefore prayed to his Lord, “I am overpowered, therefore avenge me.” 10 So We opened the gates of heaven, with water pouring forth. 11 and We made the earth burst forth with springs, and all this water converged to fulfil that which had been decreed. 12 But We bore him on an (Ark) made of broad planks and caulked with palm-fibre: 13 That ran (upon the waters) in Our sight, as a reward for him who was rejected. 14 And assuredly We left it for a sign. Is there then anyone who would be admonished? 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 17 The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning? 18 Behold, We let loose upon them a raging storm wind on a day of bitter misfortune: 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
