The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say, "This is (but) transient magic." 2 They have cried lies, and followed their caprices; but every matter is settled. 3 Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, 4 Mature wisdom;- but (the preaching of) Warners profits them not. 5 So turn away from them, (O Prophet). On the Day when a caller shall call them to a thing most terrible, 6 with downcast eyes they shall come out of their graves, as if they were locusts milling about 7 These disbelievers will say, "This is a hard day". 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 Noah prayed, "Lord, help me; I am defeated". 10 Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring water 11 And We made water to flow forth in the land in springs, so the water gathered together according to a measure already ordained. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied. 14 And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 And We sent against them a howling wind in a Day of continuous of ill fortune 19 it swept the people away as though they were palm-trunks uprooted: 20 Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22
