The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
THE HOUR HAS come and split is the moon. 1 But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say, "This is (but) transient magic." 2 And they belied, and they followed their lusts; and every affair cometh to a final goal. 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not. 5 Therefore turn away from them; on the day when the announcer will call towards a severe unknown matter – 6 with downcast eyes they shall come out of their graves, as if they were locusts milling about 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 Then he called upon His Lord: “Verily I am vanquished; so come You to my aid.” 10 Then We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined. 12 And We carried Nooh upon a ship of wooden planks and nails. 13 and it floated under Our eyes: a recompense for him who had been rejected with ingratitude. 14 And We left it for a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 17 The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning? 18 We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous, 19 Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 22
