(The tribe of) Thamud rejected warnings 23 They said, "Should we follow only one person among us. We shall be clearly in error and in trouble (if we do so). 24 Has the reminder been made to light upon him from among us? Nay! he is an insolent liar! 25 (We told Our Messenger): “Tomorrow they shall know who is the insolent liar. 26 Behold, [O Salih] We are letting loose this she-camel as a test for them; and thou but watch them, and contain thyself in patience. 27 And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them. Each one's right to drink being established (by turns). 28 But they called their companion, so he took (the sword) and slew (her). 29 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 30 Indeed, We sent upon them one blast from the sky, and they became like the dry twig fragments of an [animal] pen. 31 We made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would take heed? 32 The people of Lut treated the warning. as a lie. 33 We let loose on all of them a squall of claystones, except for the house of Lot whom We saved at dawn 34 as a favour from Us. Thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 He had warned them of Our might, but they passed over the warnings. 36 They even solicited of him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes: 'Now, taste My punishment and My warnings' 37 And indeed, the everlasting punishment overcame them early in the morning. 38 Now taste My punishment after My warnings! 39 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 40
