The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The Beneficent 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He created man. 3 and He has taught him the Explanation. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning. 5 And the herbs and the trees - both (alike) prostrate in adoration. 6 and heaven -- He raised it up, and set the Balance. 7 so that you [too, O men,] might never transgress the measure [of what is right]: 8 And observe the weight with equity and do not make the balance deficient. 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 therein fruits, and palm-trees with sheaths, 11 and a variety of corn with both husk and grain. 12 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 13 He has created man, from dry ringing clay, like the potter"s, 14 and has created the jinn from the flame of fire. 15 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 16 Lord of the East and Lord of the West. 17 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 18 He has made the two oceans meet each other, 19 Between them is a barrier which they cannot pass. 20 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 21 From the two oceans comes pearls and coral. 22 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 23 His too are the ships that run, raised up in the sea like land-marks. 24 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 25
