The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And fruit of what they select 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And shade extended 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
