The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and spreading shade 30 And water everflowing. 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
