The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On studded thrones. 15 facing one another. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and serried acacias, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And carpets raised. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 So made them as maidens. 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
