The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and clustered bananas, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and gushing water, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For those of the right hand. 38
