The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water everflowing. 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
