The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and flowing water, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
