The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and banana trees, 29 and spreading shade 30 and flowing water, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And made them virgins. 36 loving and of equal age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
