The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 there is no denying its coming 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 full of love, well-matched 37 for those on the Right, 38
