A multitude of those of old 39 And a company of the later peoples. 40 As for the People on the Left: how miserable will be the People on the Left! 41 In scorching wind and boiling hot water. 42 And shadow of black smoke, 43 neither cool, neither goodly; 44 Indeed they were among favours before this. 45 But persisted in that greater sin, 46 and would say: "What! After we have died and become mere dust and bones, shall we, forsooth, be raised from the dead? 47 "(We) and our fathers of old?" 48 Say: "Verily, those of olden times and those of later times 49 will be brought together for an appointment on an appointed day. 50 "Then moreover, verily, you the erring-ones, the deniers (of Resurrection)! 51 Will eat of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 and fill your bellies with it, 53 Then drink over it of boiling water; 54 Drinking even as the camel drinketh. 55 This is their entertainment on the day of requital. 56 We have created you, then why would you not confirm it? 57 Have ye seen that which ye emit? 58 Create him ye, or are We the Creator? 59 We have decreed among you Death; We shall not be outstripped; 60 That We may transfigure you and make you what ye know not. 61 You certainly knew about (your) first development. Why do you not take heed? 62 Have you considered what you sow? 63 Is it you that cause it to grow, or are We the causers of growth? 64 If We pleased, We should have certainly made it broken down into pieces, then would you begin to lament: 65 (Saying:) 'We are laden with debts! 66 Nay, but we have been deprived [of our livelihood]!" 67 Behold! the water which ye drink: 68 Do ye bring it down (in rain) from the cloud or do We? 69 Had We wanted, We could have made it salty. Why then do you not give thanks? 70 Have you seen the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you that originated its tree, or are We the Originator? 72 We have made it a memorial (of Our handiwork), and an article of comfort and convenience for the denizens of deserts. 73 Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74
