Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 And what is that indubitable event? 2 And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Do you see any vestige left of them now? 8 Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes. 9 They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. 10 Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 Then when the Horn is blown with one blast 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 Now as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, he will exclaim: "Come you all!" Read this my record! 19 Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." 20 So he shall be in a pleasing life 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. 23 (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. 24 But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! 25 Nor known whatever was my reckoning! 26 O would that it had made an end (of me): 27 My riches have not availed me, 28 “All my power has vanished.” 29 "Seize him and manacle him, 30 and then let him enter Hell. 31 Then, in a chain whereof the length is seventy Cubits, bind him. 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 Today he shall have no loyal friend here, 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 which only the sinners eat". 37
