Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the Reality? 2 Would that you knew (in detail) what the Inevitable is! 3 Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! 7 Now dost thou see any remnant of them? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. 10 Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 Then when the Horn is blown with one blast 13 And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 And the angels shall be on the borders thereof; and on that Day eight shall bear over them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 That will be the Day when you shall be brought forth (before Allah) and no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 Then he shall find himself in a life of bliss; 21 in a lofty garden, 22 with its fruits within easy reach. 23 Eat and drink with benefit for that which ye sent on beforehand in days past. 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 and not known my reckoning! 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 Vanished has my power from me." 29 (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 “So he does not have any friend here this day.” 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 None will eat it except the sinners. 37
