Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ THE CONCRETE REALITY. 1 How awesome that laying-bare of the truth! 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 and the Ad were destroyed by a furiously raging wind-storm 6 which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. 7 Do you see any vestige left of them now? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 the earth and mountains will be raised up high and crushed all together. 14 then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 And the angels shall be on the borders thereof; and on that Day eight shall bear over them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 That Day shall you be brought to Judgement, not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! 19 Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' 20 so he will live in a state of Bliss 21 In a high garden 22 Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. 23 “Eat and drink with pleasure – the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 and neither known this my account! 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 My wealth has not helped me a thing 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. 30 “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” 31 And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. 32 they did not believe in the great God, 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 and so, no friend has here today, 35 and has no food except the filth from the washing of wounds, 36 “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” 37
