Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 What makes you to know what the Resurrection Verifier is? 3 The Thamud and the 'Ad People (branded) as false the Stunning Calamity! 4 The Thamuds were destroyed by a violent blast of sound. 5 The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? 8 And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 And the angels shall be on the borders thereof; and on that Day eight shall bear over them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 That will be the Day when you shall be brought forth (before Allah) and no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" 20 So he shall have an agreeable life 21 in a lofty garden, 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! 25 Nor that I knew my reckoning! 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 and my authority has been destroyed' 29 "Seize him and manacle him, 30 “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 for, behold, he did not believe in God, the Tremendous, 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 nor any food save the filth 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
