Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Verily, We sent Nuh (Noah) to his people (Saying): "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful torment." 1 He said, “O my people! I am indeed a Herald of clear warnings to you.” 2 (Bidding you): Serve Allah and keep your duty unto Him and obey me, 3 That He may forgive you somewhat of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Lo! the term of Allah, when it cometh, cannot be delayed, if ye but knew. 4 He said: My Lord! Lo! I have called unto my people night and day 5 but my pleas have only increased their aversion. 6 Each time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers in their ears and wrapped themselves in their garments, and persisted becoming very proud. 7 "Then verily, I called to them openly (aloud); 8 then indeed I spoke publicly unto them, and I spoke unto them secretly, 9 "Ask for forgiveness of your Lord," I said. "Surely, He is the Forgiver. 10 He will shower upon you torrents from heaven, 11 And will help you with wealth and sons, and will assign unto you Gardens and will assign unto you rivers. 12 What aileth you that ye hope not toward Allah for dignity 13 And surely He hath created you by stages. 14 "'Do you not see how God has created seven heavens in full harmony with one another, 15 And made the moon therein a [reflected] light and made the sun a burning lamp? 16 And Allah has made you grow out of the earth as a growth: 17 and He will later cause you to return to it and will then again bring you out of it. 18 God has spread out the earth 19 for you, so that you may walk along its wide roads". 20
