Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
We sent Noah to his people, saying, 'Warn thy people, ere there come on them a painful chastisement.' 1 Noah said: “My people, I have certainly been sent as a clear warner to you, 2 "That ye should worship Allah, fear Him and obey me: 3 That He may forgive some of your sins and prolong your term till an appointed time. Surely when God's appointed time is come it will not be put off, if only you knew! 4 He said: O my Lord! surely I have called my people by night and by day! 5 And my calling hath only increased them in fleeing. 6 "And every time I have called to them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they have (only) thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. 7 "So I have called to them aloud; 8 Then surely I spoke to them in public and I spoke to them in secret: 9 "Ask for forgiveness of your Lord," I said. "Surely, He is the Forgiver. 10 ‘He will send down abundant rain for you from the sky.’ 11 rain from the sky, 12 What is the matter with you that you fear not the greatness of Allah? 13 seeing that He has created [every one of] you in successive stages? 14 Do you not see how Allah has created seven heavens, one upon the other, 15 and made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp, 16 And Allah has made you grow out of the earth as a growth: 17 Then He will return you into it and extract you [another] extraction. 18 how God has spread the earth out for you 19 so that you might walk thereon on spacious paths.'" 20
