He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and fears (Allah), 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
