Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
We sent Noah to his people (and directed him): “Warn your people before a grievous chastisement comes upon them.” 1 [Noah] said, "My people! I am but a plain warner to you, 2 that you should worship God [alone] and be conscious of Him. Pay heed to me. 3 He will forgive you some of your faults and grant you a delay to an appointed term; surely the term of Allah when it comes is not postponed; did you but know! 4 He said, "My Lord! I have called my people night and day 5 but my call has only increased them in running away. 6 Evert time I invite them to Your (guidance) so that You can forgive them, they put their fingers into their ears, cover their heads with their clothes, persist in their disbelief and display extreme arrogance. 7 And lo! I have called unto them aloud, 8 Then verily I spake unto them openly and secretly. I also addressed them. 9 I said to them: “Ask forgiveness from your Lord; surely He is Most Forgiving. 10 He will send the heaven upon you copiously; 11 and give to you wealth and sons, and provide you with gardens and rivers. 12 What is [the matter] with you that you do not attribute to Allah [due] grandeur 13 He has created you by stages! 14 Do you not see how Allah has created seven heavens, one upon the other, 15 And made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp? 16 And Allah has made you grow out of the earth as a growth: 17 And thereafter He will cause you to return thereinto, and He will bring you forth a forthbringing. 18 God has made the earth for you a spreading, 19 That you may go along therein in wide paths. 20
