Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ SAY: "I HAVE been informed that a number of jinns had listened; then said: 'We have heard the wondrous Qur'an, 1 that guides to the Right Path. We believe in it and we will not associate anyone with our Lord. 2 Exalted is the glory of our Lord; He has neither wife nor son. 3 And [now we know] that the foolish among us have been saying outrageous things about God. 4 And lo! we had supposed that humankind and jinn would not speak a lie concerning Allah - 5 and that “some from among the humans used to seek protection of some among the jinn, and thus they increased the arrogance of the jinn”; 6 So they began to think, even as you do, that God would not resurrect any one. 7 We sought to reach heaven, but found it filled with strong guards and flames -- 8 'We used, indeed, to sit there in (hidden) stations, to (steal) a hearing; but any who listen now will find a flaming fire watching him in ambush. 9 And we do not know [therefore] whether evil is intended for those on earth or whether their Lord intends for them a right course. 10 ‘And among us some are virtuous and some are the other type; we are split into several branches.’ 11 We realised that we could not weaken the power of God on earth, nor outpace Him by running away. 12 When we heard the call to guidance, we believed in it. He who believes in his Lord has no fear of loss or of injustice. 13 Some of us have come to submission, and some of us are iniquitous.'" Those who have submitted have taken the right course; 14 ‘And as for the unjust – they are the fuel of hell.’” 15 Had they (jinn and mankind) remained steadfast in their religion (Islam), We would certainly have given them abundant water to drink 16 so that We might try them through this bounty. Whoso turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to suffer a grievous chastisement; 17 And the mosques are for Allah (Alone), so invoke not anyone along with Allah. 18 (It has been revealed to me that) When the slave of Allah (Muhammad SAW) stood up invoking (his Lord Allah) in prayer to Him they (the jinns) just made round him a dense crowd as if sticking one over the other (in order to listen to the Prophet's recitation). 19
