In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
O thou wrapped up in thy raiment! 1 Rise to pray in the night except a little, 2 A half of it or a little less 3 Or a little more, and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 For We are about to send down to you a message of considerable gravity. 5 Verily the rising by night! it is most curbing and most conducive to right speech. 6 Indeed you have a lot of matters during the day. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with (exclusive) devotion. 8 Lord of the East and Lord of the West – there is no God except Him, therefore make Him your sole Trustee of affairs. 9 Bear with patience what they say, and gracefully come away from them. 10 Leave Me to deal with the deniers, lords of ease and comfort (in this life); and do thou respite them awhile. 11 We have heavy fetters and a blazing Fire in store for them; 12 And a food that choketh and a torment afflictive. 13 On a day when the earth and the mountains will tremble, and the mountains turn into dunes of flowing sand. 14 We have sent an Apostle to you as a witness against you, as We had sent an apostle to the Pharaoh. 15 But Fir'aun (Pharaoh) disobeyed the Messenger [Musa (Moses)], so We seized him with a severe punishment. 16 How then, if you disbelieve, will you preserve yourselves on the day which will even turn the children hoary? 17 The heaven will split asunder with its grief; the promise of Allah will surely occur. 18 This, verily, is a reminder: let him who wills, then set out on a way to his Sustainer! 19
