The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 arise, and warn! 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 stay away from sins 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 So that is a tough day. 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 LEAVE Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 and children living in his presence, 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 May he be condemned! 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he beheld, 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
