The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 And your Lord glorify 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 And sons present by his side. 13 And made things easy for them. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate. 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he beheld, 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 Blackening the skins. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
